4 Things To Know About The New Orlando To Miami Brightline Train
It’s finally happening! Brightline announced that their service from Orlando to South Florida will begin next week! There’s no Tampa station (yet), but we’re next. Here are some important things to know about the new way to travel across Florida.
Short flights within the state are a pain in the butt. Fortunately we can see the light at the end of the train tunnel. Brightline trains will begin servicing Orlando International Airport on Sept. 22. Here are some important things to know:
How much are tickets?
For a limited time, Brightline said it is offering one-way SMART fares starting at at $79 for adults and $39 for kids. If you want to travel in style, upgrade to PREMIUM. You’ll get exclusive lounge access, priority seating, complimentary snacks & drinks, and checked baggage are included! One-way fares start at $149.
How long is the ride?
The ride between Orlando and West Palm Beach is approximately two hours, and three hours thirty minutes between Orlando and Miami. The current schedule between Central and South Florida includes 16 daily round trips, with hourly northbound and southbound departures. For reference, a nonstop flight from Orlando to Miami is about an hour and a half. So a little more time will be spent traveling, but Brightline tickets are generally cheaper than airline tickets and 2 carryon bags are included!
What are some onboard amenities?
Powerful and free WiFi is available in-station and onboard. That’s something that doesn’t exist on ANY flight! Plus there are charging ports at every seat and food & beverages stations onboard.
When will we see a Tampa station?
This is going to be a pretty convenient way to travel to SoFlo when we finally get a station in Tampa, and hopefully alleviate some traffic. The Florida Department of Transportation is working with Brightline on the project. As of April 2023 we suspect the station will be built in the Gasworks development, which is in between Ybor and Downtown.
