WATCH: ‘Westworld’ Season 4 Teaser Trailer and Season 3 Recap

Westworld is coming back on HBO Max this summer, and to get fans of the dystopian sci-fi drama series pumped up about the upcoming season, the teaser trailer for season 4 dropped today (May 10).

West Side Story‘s Ariana DeBose is to join the robot apocalypse for the fourth season in an undisclosed role as a recurring guest star. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Debose will join returning actors Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul and Angela Sarafyan.

The fourth season, out June 26, is simply described as “a dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on earth.”

To recap the third season: it takes place three months after the events of the second season, with Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) having escaped Westworld along with a few processing cores (“pearls”), including Bernard’s (Jeffrey Wright). Taking residence in neo-Los Angeles in 2053, Dolores develops a relationship with Caleb (Aaron Paul) and comes to learn how artificial beings and lower-class humans are treated in the real world. Meanwhile, Maeve (Thandiwe Newton) finds herself in another part of the Delos park, one based on Fascist Italy during World War II. William (Ed Harris), who also left Westworld at the end of the second season, is now haunted by visions of his daughter, Emily, and Dolores.

'Westworld': The Characters We Love (Or Love To Hate)

• Dolores Abernathy

  Dolores Abernathy, also known as Wyatt or the Deathbringer, is played by Evan Rachel Wood. In the Westworld park she plays the part of a wholesome and beautiful rancher's daughter who then led Wyatt's gang against the Westworld staff and human guests. After leaving the park, she starts a revolution.

• Charlotte Hale

  Charlotte Hale, played by Tessa Thompson, is the former Executive Director of the board of Delos Destinations, Inc. She was sent to the Westworld park to deal with the Host Uprising. Later, a host replica of Charlotte Hale was created by Bernard Lowe to carry a version of Dolores Abernathy, who he had "killed" in the Forge.

• Maeve Millay

  Maeve Millay is portrayed by English actress, Thandiwe Newton. She is one of the most prominent characters featured in the series as a host who acts as the madam of Sweetwater, the largest town in Westworld. She is one of the first hosts who appears to question her reality, after a series of flashback events.
• The Man In Black

  The Man in Black, AKA William, is played by Ed Harris. He is a Westworld veteran who has been visiting the park for over 30 years and believes that the original park creator, Arnold, hid some mystery in the park before he died 34 years earlier.

• Bernard Lowe

  Share

  Bernard Lowe, played by Jeffrey Wright, was created by Westworld creator Dr. Robert Ford. Ford programmed Bernard to think of himself as a human. Bernard was unaware that he was a host initially, and worked as the head of Delos' Westworld Programming Division.

• Ashley Stubbs

  Share

  Luke Hemsworth plays Ashley Stubbs, Head of the Westworld Quality Assurance Security Force. Though seemingly distrustful of Hosts, it is eventually revealed that he is actually one of them, built by Robert Ford.
• Ash James and Caleb Nichols

  Played by Lena Waithe, Ash is a criminal who works through Rico app to make money for her living. She is involved in the rioting around the Incite building, and helps Caleb Nichols (played by Aaron Paul) get closer to the building in a bid to carry out Dolores Abernathy's plan.

• Musashi

  Share

  Musashi (Hiroyuki Sanada) was created by Lee Sizemore as Shōgunworld's counterpart to Hector Escaton. Musashi contains a copy of Dolores' pearl (one of the five pearls Dolores took with her when she escaped the Parks).

• Hanaryo

  Originally a host from Shōgunworld, Hanaryo (Tao Okamoto) develops a strong bond with Maeve. Later, in season three, Maeve chooses her as one of her friends to resurrect. Similar with Armistince to Hector, Hanaryo shows the upmost respect and loyalty to Musashi.
• Engerraund Serac

  Share

  Trillionaire Engerraund Serac (Vincent Cassel) serves as the main antagonist of the third season. It is also revealed that he foresaw the Host Uprising and is the figure for whom Charlotte Hale was attempting to smuggle guests' data out of the park in the first two seasons.
