South Tampa BBQ Restaurant is Closing
A south Tampa BBQ restaurant will be closing after 43 years but is looking for a new location.
Kojak’s House of Ribs on Gandy Boulevard will be closing, but we don’t have a date. The good news is the owner, Chris Forney, told Fox 13 that he is looking for a new location. Maybe something easier to keep up than a house with a giant porch from 1927.
So what is the reason for deciding to leave the legendary location under the giant oak trees? Apparently, the owners got an offer from an apartment developer for the land.
For now, since we don’t know when it will be closing, you can swing by Kojak’s to your fix of their homemade food including yummy ribs, pulled pork, or my favorite Mama’s Chocolate Cake.

This place is an institution – it even says so on their website! We really hope it finds a new place to reopen down the road.
