The 2 Things WWE’s Seth Rollins Misses About Living In Tampa
Monday night, World Wrestling Entertainment brings their Monday Night Raw TV crew to Tampa. But for many of wrestlers, Tampa is home if not their second home. Main event headliner Seth Rollins spent years here working out in a warehouse on Dale Mabry to hopefully one day live his dream of being a WWE champ. Last week, I shared photos from NXT Largo at Minnreg Hall where pro wrestling’s next batch of hopefuls practice what they’ve learned at their school in Orlando in hopes of getting on the WWE roster with guys like Seth Rollins. But before NXT, Vince McMahon sent rookies like Seth to Tampa to literally “learn the ropes” at Florida Championship Wrestling. Matches were held for a few dozen fans. Some of those matches from Dale Mabry can be seen in the archives of WWE’s online TV network. Now Seth is preparing for a spot on the card when WWE brings WrestleMania to Tampa at Raymond James Stadium next year where he’ll perform for tens of thousands live and millions online around the world.
So since leaving Tampa, what does Seth Rollins miss most? He told the Tampa Bay Times there are two things specifically: Wright’s Gourmet and Daily Eats. Can’t say I blame the guy. I’m way more fond of Wright’s. Their BLT is overloaded with bacon – if that’s possible. Their take on the Cuban got me to actually like Cuban sandwiches. Their cupcakes, specifically the peanut butter and chocolate one, are worth the high price tag. It is South Tampa – you know you’re going to overpay when you’re in South Tampa.
Reading that Seth misses Wright’s Gourmet House reminded me that I do too. Since moving to the Pinellas side of Tampa Bay, I don’t get over there much. So if you’re looking for a pre-Raw meal Monday, maybe you’ll see Seth or me there. Either would be equally exciting I’m sure.
Hey it’s Geno. I’m a big Lightning fan and Tampa Bay’s junk foodie (look up the hashtag #genoatetampa). I grew up in Westbrook, Maine but Florida will always be home. Hook up with me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
