HESPERIA, CA - JULY 28: Sprinklers water the lawns of a new housing development July 28, 2005 in Hesperia, California. California's demand for water will jump by 40 percent over the next 25 years according to a study released this week by the Public Policy Institute of California. Half of all the water used by inland homeowners, where growth is booming, goes to irrigating yards, compared to one third or less in the cooler coastal regions. (Photo by David McNew/Getty Images)

We got some rain this weekend and more is coming this week, but the water restrictions we’ve been talking about go into effect today (June 5, 2017). Here’s what you need to know:

You are allowed to water your lawn once a week. Same goes for washing your car – just once a week. The restrictions are in effect for Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota Counties.

From the city of Tampa website, here is the day you can water the lawn at your place:

At addresses ending in 0 or 1 – Mondays;
At addresses ending in 2 or 3 – Tuesdays;
At addresses ending in 4 or 5 – Wednesdays;
At addresses ending in 6 or 7 – Thursdays;
At addresses ending in 8 or 9 – Fridays
