As a community, it is essential to come together and support one another year round. A major holiday that we recognize is Juneteenth. Also known as “Emancipation Day” or “Day of Freedom,” it’s the day that we celebrate the ending of slavery in the United States on June 19. Green Book of Tampa Bay is a great, free resource to use to find Black-owned businesses in Tampa Bay, from bars and restaurants to home services. We consulted from this directory to highlight many of the businesses in our list below.

    Look no further for your new brunch spot in Tampa! This veteran and woman owned restaurant specializes in Soul Food Brunch, they are known for their Lobster and Red Velvet Waffles with Champagne Syrup and 20+ wing flavors.

    #4.) Saucin Wings

    This little food truck serves out the best wings you’ll find in Tampa. Their sauce is made from scratch and served fresh daily (The Peach Buzz is the way to go.) They also serve vegetarian and vegan options! Check out their website to see where the truck will be this month!

    #5.) Pop Goes The Waffle

    We couldn’t end this list without giving you one sweet option to choose from! Pop Goes The Waffle started off as a food truck and surged in popularity the past few years. They found the perfect location in Gulfport to open their first café! Enjoy pastries, coffee, weekend brunch specials and of course WAFFLES at 5004 Tangerine Ave S, Gulfport.

    #3.) St Pete Strong

    Sponsored by the Dreamfaith Foundation, St. Pete Strong raises awareness of St. Pete natives who have overcome life’s challenges and are excelling in their occupations and communities. Every donation will go towards the expansion of Dreamfaith Youth Conferences, Scholarships and STEM workshops in St. Petersburg Florida. Over 3,500 Students have benefited from their services across 3 states and 6 cities.

    #4.) The Make It Out Foundation

    Established November 29, 2017. This non-profit started with one mission in mind; to serve and enhance the lives of individuals from the St. Petersburg community by providing financial assistance to those attending Florida A&M University. As of 2019, they have opened their scholarship and services to individuals from any state who intend on pursuing a post-secondary education at any college, university, or vocational institute throughout the country. To date, they’ve awarded over $25,000 in scholarships and to community efforts throughout the country.

    The Pinellas County Urban League has been serving the community for over 43 years. The agency’s mission is to increase social inclusion, educational competitiveness, and economic prosperity in the African-American population of Pinellas County and neighboring counties.
