There are some great pizza spots all over the Tampa area. But can we just focus on St. Pete for a second? Where are the must-try pizza spots in St. Pete? I feel like this list can change year to year, even month to month!

Pizza is almost like politics with some people… arguments galore! I’m from NY originally… and after moving here many years ago, I played victim to comparing all local pizzas to NY taste. I’ve now just taken that mindset out of it. The sauce, the toppings, the cheese, the crust. It’s subjective. Everyone’s palates and expectations are different.

No, I’m not comparing ALL pizza to NY style or a specific taste. People do that all too often. But instead, judge a pizza on how good it tastes! With that said St. Pete has some of the best spots for delicious pizza, from family-friendly restaurants to unique pizzerias with creative topping combinations.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, these restaurants will satisfy your craving for a slice of cheesy goodness. Let’s look at some of the best pizza spots in St. Petersburg. Keep reading to find out where to get your next pizza fix! A flavor style for everyone.

Note: some of these spots have multiple locations, but we will focus on St. Pete for now. Here are some of my favorites and favorites among what I hear from people in our area…

  • Nicko’s Pizza and Subs

Nicko’s is probably the best replication of NY-style pizza on this list, in my opinion. This is spot on. In a blind taste test, it would be hard to distinguish this one from an actual NY pizza. I’m sure even that statement would be debated.

  • Pizza Box

Pizza Box offers wood-fired pizzas with a unique taste. It’s like nothing you’ve ever tasted before. I’ve never experienced anything like it, and it’s fantastic. My favorite pizza is the Lover Boy – homemade San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella, homemade meatballs, herb-whipped ricotta, cherry peppers, caramelized onions, and fresh basil.

  • Fabrica Pizza

In a fast-casual setting, you can get delicious Neapolitan Woodfired pizza here. Compared to most meatballs, their housemade meatballs tasted completely different to me. That’s a good thing! There is just a unique taste to the pizza as a whole. I discovered that the meatballs aren’t just beef-based like most. It is a combination of beef and pork.

  • Paul’s Chicago Pizza

How about THIN Chicago-style crust? Yes, it exists! People who are not familiar with “Chicago Style Pizza” usually think of deep dish pizza. Chicago style pizza comes in three main types, one of which has a thin crust. Interestingly, thin crust pizzas are more popular in Chicago than deep dish or stuffed pizzas. There’s a fun factoid for ya. And Fabrica, makes a great THIN Chicago style.

  • Noble Crust

At this point, Noble Crust is considered a “staple” place to dine in St. Pete. For a solid pizza and Italian and southern-inspired cooking and ingredients, overall… Noble Crust shouldn’t disappoint. I enjoy the Works pizza – which is tomato sauce, mozzarella + fontina, pepperoni, crimini mushrooms, crushed olives, spicy Calabrian chili-honey.
