There’s good and bad in everything, and one thing we learned in this pandemic is that a lot of people would love to work from home. I mean, why fight this ever increasing Southwest Florida traffic to go work retail somewhere when you can make the same money at home. Plus your do would rather have you at home anyway. So, to help people find companies looking for remote workers in Florida and all over the US, FlexJobs has revealed its latest report of the top 100 companies hiring remote jobs in 2022.
As originally reported by Anne Erickson at WRIF, for the study, they looked at 57,000 companies who work with FlexJobs site. Each organization is looking to hire “hundreds, if not thousands, of remote jobs in a given year,” FlexJobs career services manager Brie Reynolds tells CNBC Make It.
The number 3 company on the list is Tampa based SYKES. A quick look at the Sykes page shows 228 jobs available. Many of the jobs have been posted in the last week. I’m seeing Support Agent jobs specializing in Finance, Health Care, maybe you don’t have a specialty – that’s ok. There’s plenty of jobs for that too. Most only require a High School diploma.
Since the work is remote, there’s no reason why the company you work for needs to be located in Florida. But do be aware of the tax change. Florida does not charge a state income tax, but most states do. And some states will require you to pay state income tax whether or not you work in the state. It’s called the “source rule”. California for sure is a state I know that does this. According to Mane’s Law: “California taxes all taxable income with a source in California regardless of the taxpayer’s residency.” So in this case you’ll need to pay the state of California their share even though you may live in Lehigh Acres, Florida. If you have more than one job offer, this might be something to take into consideration.
Many of the companies looking to are major organizations with big names, so lots of familiarity here.
