Friendly’s Introduces New 100 Calorie Ice Cream Bars
Most of the time, when you’re getting ice cream, you’re not counting calories. But Friendly’s new ice cream bars which are being rolled out to supermarkets, are being marketed as “healthier” options.
Friendly’s announced new 100 calorie ice cream bars that will be available in four-pack boxes. The flavor varieties sound very intriguing. They are:
- Carmel Waffle Cone
- Fudge Brownie
- Cookie Dough
- Cherry Fudge
“Your Friendly’s Ice Cream fix on a stick in 4 irresistible flavors. Find ’em in the frozen aisle,” Friendly’s said in an announcement on their Instagram page.
Are Friendly’s Ice Cream Bars Nostalgia On A Stick?
As a kid, my grandfather would take my sister and me to Friendly’s numerous times throughout the summer. Sure, it was a treat for us, both the dessert portion and getting to spend time with him. However, it very well could be that the Friendly’s part of the adventure was just as much for him as it was for us. He just loved it. From the food, to the people that worked there and everything in between, he just loved the entire experience.
He would focus his attention on two primary items. First was the Reese’s Pieces Sundae cups. He was very strategic in how ate it so that the top layer wasn’t all gone at once. Then, if there was any occasion coming up – from a birthday to just the family coming over for a Sunday dinner, he would bring home a watermelon sherbet cake.
I mention these memories because though Friendly’s has had some challenges and restaurants have closed, they seem to be doing everything creative they can to continue to innovate and charge on.
If you are unfamiliar with Friendly’s other products, they also sell four different “Nutty Buddy” cones, the “Friendwich” and big dipper ice cream sandwich, ice cream bars, and ice pops.
For a limited time there are also Super Hero and Unicorn bars. In addition, pint flavors specials include Boston Cream Pie, Blueberry Cheesecake, Caramel Cookie Crumble, and Peppermint Stick ice cream.
To bring this full circle, Friendly’s posted the following message on Father’s Day. They said, “Dads, grandpas, and all father figures – here’s to the ones who make every moment sweeter, especially when it involves sharing your favorite Friendly’s ice cream! Happy Father’s Day!”
