One Of Tampa’s Best Restaurants Unexpectedly Closes
We’re sorry to say that one of Tampa’s best restaurants had unexpectedly closed on March 31st. Ichicoro Ramen had closed its doors permanently, with almost no heads up to employees or customers. The staple Tampa ramen restaurant has been at the Seminole Heights location for 8 years. The hip ramen spot even earned a Bib Gourmand with the Michelin Guide. Creative Loafing tells us despite the sign on their door that says “Closed today”, Ichicoro will not be reopening their doors. The first clue was that the sign had been posted on the door for two weeks.
The most messed up part about losing one of the most popular restaurants in Tampa is how their employees found out. According to Creative Loafing, some employees were clocked in and working when they found out the bad news. They ended up messaging a manager to confirm and was only replied with a crying face emoji. This seems to be happening all over Tampa. Just a couple weeks ago we found out a staple Downtown Tampa bar had closed it’s doors overnight.
Ichicoro used to take over all of Tampa Bay with locations in Seminole Heights and St. Pete. The St. Pete location was the first to go and was replaced with Good Fortune. There was talk of a “Ichicoro 2.0” opening on Florida Ave in Seminole Heights. But now it’s looking less likely.
Ramen lovers should fret. Even though we thought Ichicoro was one of Tampa’s best restaurants, there are plenty of other local Ramen spots to check out. Here are 3 of our favorites:
- Wagamama on Water St in Tampa
- Otsuka Ramen in South Tampa
- Doodle Noodle in Westchase
