Dolly Parton Will Release Duet With Dionne Warwick This Month
Dolly Parton’s latest duet partner is music legend Dionne Warwick, and the news was revealed on The Tameron Hall Show. Tameron called it “exclusive news,” adding that her heart was racing.
Hall continued to say that her mind was blown, and she was emotional, asking Dionne how that happened; Warwick replied, “Well, she sent me a song that she wanted me to record, and I said, ‘Okay, sounds like a deal.’ She’s such a sweetheart; I know her, and she sent me another song, the one we’re gonna be doing as a duet.” She added, “It’s a gospel song called ‘Peace Like a River.’ She wrote it. And I am very excited about this. I really am. I’ve done so many duets over the years. But this one’s gonna be very special, it is.”
Dionne’s son, producer, and music veteran Damon Elliott was sitting beside her during the interview, and he interjected to add, “It’s really good!”
Tameron then mentioned The Bodyguard, a movie that starred Warwick’s niece Whitney Houston and featured Houston singing Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” Dionne responded, “It’s preordained. God’s got a purpose. People ask me, ‘What are you gonna do next?’ I don’t know. Whatever God has planned for me. I’m walking his path, and I’m loving every second of it.”
Dolly has had duets with many music stars over the year, including the 2023 Grammy nominated duet with Reba, “Does He Love You,” and, of course, many duets with Kenny Rogers, who she recently talked aboutmissing dearly after his death in 2020. She told The Today Show in December, “Loretta, she was very dear to me, like a sister. Same with Naomi. We were (the) same age, and we loved the same things. And I loved her.”
“I also lost Kenny Rogers — three of my dearest people — in the business in a very short period of time.” She added, “I grieve over them almost like you do a family member. And I think of them, but you try to keep the good memories.” Rogers died peacefully at home in Georgia on March 20, 2020.
