Luke Bryan Says Having Beyonce In Country is ‘Great’
Luke Bryan says having Beyonce in country music is a great thing. We talked with Luke this afternoon (4/1), and he was asked about how the country genre and other musical genres are changing.
Beyonce’s Song ‘Amazing’ and ‘Great’
Bryan told us, “Obviously, to see Beyonce get a lot of headlines right now for her song is amazing and great. The quicker we all intersect and intermingle and work together, the better. When you see Post Malone’s post with Morgan (Wallen) that they’re working on something, when you see artists from all other genres, I think that’s how society listens to their music these days.”

His Nephew’s Playlist
Luke used his nephew Til as an example; he told us, “When I watch my nephew Til, who’s twenty-two, his playlist…you can’t tell what this kid is by his playlist. There is no way you can stereotype who he is cause it’s all over the map. I don’t even know all the rappers out there, but it’s their songs; it’s Conway Twitty one minute, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, and hopefully, Uncle Luke get a little nod in my nephew’s playlist.”

He added, “As people are able to go on their phone and build their own playlists and mix the songs that are relevant to them, it doesn’t matter (the genre). I think kids are just listening to whatever speaks to them. No matter where country music goes or what the artists look like.”
‘Broke The Mold’
Bryan points out that when he first hit country music more than 15 years ago, he stirred the pot himself. He said, “I guess I broke the mold; you’ve got a guy like me singing ‘Country Girls Shake it For Me’ that’s up there dancing a little more provocatively than anybody ever has [in country music]. It probably made a lot of people really mad, and it probably made a lot of people smile and be happy, but it made talk either way.”
Shock Value
Luke was not trying to shake the boat, “I never was trying to do it for shock value. I just did what I did, and it felt natural to me. I mean, Jelly Roll, if you would have said that guy would be one of the hottest acts ever in music, and he’s gonna stake his claim in country music… That’s the beauty of where music is going and where society is going. The stereotype is getting removed from all forms of music; I think we’re growing and progressing.”
