Keith Urban’s ‘All For The Hall’: 2023 Highlights
Keith Urban kicked off the eighth “All For The Hall” concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame last night (12/5) in Nashville by singing two of his own hit songs. He then told the packed crowd he had been under the weather with the flu last week, and his voice may be “raspy.” The theme for the night was “The Song Remembers When,” where the artists on the show sang one of their songs and then a song that inspired them.
Keith then strapped on Waylon Jennings’ iconic black and white guitar and told the audience before introducing a song that inspired him through his younger years. He said, “I loved The Dukes of Hazzard. I got my American indoctrination through The Dukes of Hazzard.” He raised his fist and said, “Proud.”
Urban explained how Waylon Jennings was that TV show’s narrator and then sang the theme song of the popular 1980s show, “Good Ol’ Boys.”
Country Music Hall of Fame member Vince Gill joined Keith on stage and sang his two songs. Then, as they have done in years past, Keith and Vince took a backseat to the night’s guests and acted as band members as their guests sang.

“All for the Hall” Highlights:
- Riley Green sang his big hit “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” and then Alabama’s 1980s smash hit “Dixieland Delight.”
- Kelsea Ballerini sang “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” and then Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend.” Kelsea told the crowd after she sang her murder ballad, “If you could have told me when I was writing that song that one day I would get to sing it and Keith Urban and Vince Gill would sing harmony and play guitar while I was singing my most unhinged lyrics… I feel pretty proud.”
- After Urban donned a red sweater and Santa hat, the night’s surprise guest was brought to the stage after Vince said of the Rock and Roll and Country Music Hall of Fame member Brenda Lee, “There is no one I’ve met that can lay claim to this. When she was getting going in her early days, the Beatles opened for her. This is a fact.” Brenda sang her current number-one Billboard Top 200 hit and everyone’s favorite holiday song, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.”
- HARDY sang his current hit “Truck Bed” and covered Travis Tritt’s “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive.”
- Trisha Yearwood performed the night’s theme song, her own hit “The Song Remembers When,” and Linda Ronstadt’s “You’re No Good.” She said before she sang the latter, “It’s kind of funny because when I think about Linda, you know her backup band for a while was the Eagles, and I tonight I look back (referring to Vince Gill), and I’ve got an Eagle actually.”
- Brooks & Dunn closed out the night performing their own “My Maria” and Waylon Jennings’ “I Ain’t Living Long Like This” as Kix Brooks played a mean harmonica.
After all the night’s performances, Keith noted that all the musicians, artists, and even the crew were working for free so all the money could go to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. He told the crowd that this particular “All for the Hall” benefit raised more than any of their previous years, with almost one million dollars raised.
