This Florida Donut Shop Was Named Best in State
Bakeries across the United States continuously develop creative ways to serve donuts. These creations can range from intricate donut designs that can rival wedding cakes to options featuring unique flavors and toppings. However, there are times when nothing quite matches the appeal of a classic glazed donut or a well-made cake donut. A great donut is the result of a combination of factors, including its flavor, texture, fillings, and freshness. LoveFood, a food-focused website, has compiled a list of the best donut shops in each state. Their selections were based on a thorough assessment of customer reviews, awards, recognition, and the personal experiences of their team.
Every state has its own regional specialties and independent establishments that offer some of the best donuts. These range from long-established family-owned shops that have stood the test of time to newer donut shops making a mark in the donut scene.
Florida’s Best Donut Shop
In the ranking, The Salty, which has locations in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, claims the top spot as the best donut shop in the state. The food website specifically praised the shop’s white chocolate tres leches, a 24-hour raised brioche dough soaked in rum-infused milk. It’s dipped in melted white chocolate and finished with a swirl of meringue.
The donut shop holds a Yelp rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars based on a collection of over 2,600 reviews. One reviewer praised how the donut shop always has fresh and delicious donuts, stating, “I’ve tried several donuts here and they’ve all been great, always fresh, always fluffy, always big.” Another reviewer admitted to being addicted to their donuts, mentioning, “I’m ADDICTED to salty donut. No joke come here at least once a week for the cookie donut, their unique coffees (glazed donut), homemade poptarts, and donut holes.”
The Salty has multiple locations with four in Florida. These include Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. Operating hours for each of their locations vary. More information about their locations can be found here.
10 Wild Ice Cream Flavors to Try This Season
Summer is officially ice cream season, and July is National Ice Cream Month. Actually, every season is ice cream season, if you ask me. I seriously enjoy scoops of my favorite ice cream whether it’s 90 degrees outside or freezing cold. When it comes to ice cream flavors, it’s hard to beat the classics. Vanilla, chocolate, chocolate-chip and mint chocolate-chip are always favorites. But, why not switch it up and try some really wild ice cream flavors?
As a graduate of Michigan State University, I’ve tried many random ice cream flavors at the MSU Dairy Store. MSU is an agricultural college, so it’s known for the Dairy Store and having delicious ice cream. Honey Lavender and Spartan Swirl come to mind. But, enough about MSU. You don’t have to come to Michigan to get some unique ice cream flavors.
Read on for 10 wild ice cream flavors that you need to try. These flavors are all from major ice cream makers, so they should be fairly easy to find, no matter where you’re located. I’ve also included some non-dairy and gluten-free ice cream options for vegans and those on a gluten-free diet. I’m not vegan, but my favorite ice cream currently is actually non-dairy. Hopefully, there’s enough variety on this list for you to find your new favorite ice cream flavor.
It’s worth noting that some of these ice cream flavors are seasonal and only available in the summer. That said, the majority of the flavors below are currently available year-round.
