Florida Has The Most Toll Roads In America
With fast lanes and license plate scanning technologies, states have done a better job at keeping traffic moving, instead of having everyone stopping at a toll booth. But Florida still has the most amount of toll roads in America.
“In total, this state has more than 719 miles of toll roads,” LinkedIn explained in a recent feature detailing the most expensive toll roads in the country. They proceed to detail how Orange County has the most with 153 miles of tolls with 16 different plazas.
Nonetheless, the cheapest toll collection site is also in Florida. Goldenrod Road Extension in the central part of the state only costs 50 cents at collection.
Where Are The Most Expensive Toll Roads In America?
At 360 miles long, the Pennsylvania Turnpike is the most expensive toll road in the country. “If you are driving a truck, it can cost you over $200 in tolls, depending on the entry and exit point,” LinkedIn explains.
Unfortunately, Florida comes up in this category as well. The Ronald Regan Turnpike is listed as the third most expensive toll road in the country. This is just behind the Whiteface Mountain Memorial Highway in New York, and the aforementioned Pennsylvania Turnpike.
How much can you expect to spend on toll roads in Florida? The site TollGuru itemized it saying, “The tolls on the Florida Turnpike, for the entire length except for the Homestead Extension, costs about $17 with SunPass and $23 with cash/Toll-by-Plate for 2-axle vehicles.”
