Kelly Clarkson Responds To Toxic Workplace Claims
Kelly Clarkson attends NBC's "American Song Contest" Semi-Finals at Universal Studios Hollywood on April 25, 2022 in Universal City, California.
Kelly Clarkson is responding to allegations of a toxic work environment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Some former staffers (and one current employee) have spoken out in a recent article on Rolling Stone. They made it clear that the host wasn’t the problem and had “no clue how unhappy her staff is.” However, Kelly responded to the claims.
The singer and talk show host responded on social media. She said that “anyone is feeling unheard and or disrespected on this show is unacceptable.” She stated that she has “always been, and will continue to be, committed to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment at The Kelly Clarkson Show.” The show is preparing to move to New York. Clarkson, 41, said she is “more committed than ever to ensuring that not only our team that is moving, but also our new team in NY, is comprised of the best and kindest in the business.”
She concluded the post by going into more detail about how she plans to “build” the show. This includes “leadership training for all of the senior staff, including myself. There is always room to grow and ensure we are all being/becoming the best versions of ourselves in any business, especially when it comes to leadership. To ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated.”
According to the Rolling Stone article, former employees said that behind the scenes, they were overworked and underpaid. They added that it was traumatizing and damaging to their mental health. Several former show employees allegedly said the toxic behavior started with executive producer and showrunner Alex Duda. Duda previously served as an executive producer on Steve Harvey and The Tyra Banks Show. One employee said, “I think Alex Duda’s a monster. I have a friend who’s an executive producer who warned me about taking this job because, apparently, she has done this on every show she’s worked on.”
