Hillsborough County Students Will Not Be Excused To ‘Shake It Off’
In case you haven’t heard, the biggest concert of the year is happening this week. Taylor Swift is kicking off her three nights at Raymond James Stadium tonight, April 13 with two shows following on the 14th and 15th. Over 225,000 “Swifties” are expected to be in the Tampa Bay area. Hillsborough County Superintendent Addison Davis sent a clever warning to students that they will not be excused to “Shake It Off.”
Thursday morning, students and parents in Hillsborough county received a letter from their Superintendent warning that no absences will be excused to see Taylor in concert. The letter is filled with Swift’s song titles. Davis understands that he is the “Anti-Hero” here, but he emphasizes how education is more important than a concert.
“You know All Too Well you Should’ve Said No to attending a Thursday night concert. Especially one from an artist who is known for putting on a 3-hour amazing show.” Davis’ writes in the letter.

Davis also made a video version of the letter, you can watch it here.
