Sunday Midday Update On Tropical Storm Ian
2pm Sunday Update:
Tropical Storm Ian is expected to be a major hurricane in the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the middle of next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The 2pm update advisory stated that the tropical storm had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and was moving west-northwest at 12 mph.
The updated live track seems to look like the storm has continued to shift west. Regardless of Ian’s track, there is still risk of storm surge, hurricane-force winds, and heavy rainfall for the west coast of Florida and possibly Tampa Bay by the middle of next week. Residents should stay prepared and gather supplies and ensure they have a safe hurricane plan in place.

Today’s weather in Tampa will be great so the good news is there’s plenty of time to take some precautions to prepare for the high winds, flooding and power outages that Ian will likely bring. Earlier this week, Denis Phillips compiled a list of common sense and some creative life hacks that could be helpful to make Ian’s visit less stressful and damaging.
