JetBlue Employee Scams Company Out Of $785,000
A JetBlue employee could be facing jail time after scamming the company out of about $785,000.
As People explains, the gate agent, Tiffany Jenkins, converted low-cost flights into more expensive flights. She did this for over 100 friends and family members. “She was able to do so through access to the airline’s online reservation database, using a social code to change flights for no additional cost.” They add, “This change is called an ‘involuntary exchange’ and is typically only used by the airline when a customer misses their flight or must switch their plans due to a death in the family.”
Tiffany did this over 15 months for roughly 505 different flights. The majority of the trips she did this for were domestic tickets between Las Vegas and Long Beach, California. Tickets for that route start at $45.
Her sentencing begins in January.
