Dierks Bentley Gives Blake Shelton CRS Humanitarian Award
Dierks Bentley made a rare appearance at the Warner Brothers CRS luncheon today to present the CRS Humanitarian Award to his buddy Blake Shelton.
Dierks came to the podium and said, “For those of us that love country music… The old guys like myself who love that traditional sound you can hear it every time he sings, he just has a voice that reflects his love of great country music. So, this year I’m here to hand off the Humanitarian Award to Mr. Blake Shelton.”
After a video played of Blake’s humanitarian work, Shelton told the crowd of radio programmers, “I gotta be honest with you I think that the cool thing about country artists is that I feel like we all step up anytime we get to and we have the easy part, you know, we get to make music. And somehow it gets to generate awareness to certain things, generates money for things and I don’t think any of us don’t step up any time we get a chance.”
Blake then joked, “So at the end of the day I think Dierks is right, I think it’s something to give me because I don’t win anything anymore. So it’s like, ‘Give him the Humanitarian Award.’ That’s what Dierks told me this was when I was coming up here. Anyway it doesn’t mean that I don’t very much appreciate it and I couldn’t be more honored.”

Blake then sang a couple of songs; his first chart topper “Austin” and his signature song “Ole Red.”
Other Warner Brothers acts that made the radio programmers stand on their feet and cheer were performances by Chris Janson, Grammy winners Dan + Shay, Ashley McByde and Cody Johnson. Country Radio Seminar runs in Nashville through Friday.
