David Lee Murphy Teams Up With Kenny Chesney
David Lee Murphy saw his first number one hit over 23 years ago and thanks to Kenny Chesney, Murphy is back with another hit and a full album.
Murphy’s new album, No Zip Code features the number one single, “Everything Is Gonna Be Alright” and has reached number 1, a feature that is usually accomplished by the Country stars Murphy usually writes for.
After writing hits for Blake Shelton (“The More I Drink”), Jason Aldean (“Big Green Tractor”), and Kenny Chesney (“Living in Fast Forward,” “Pirate Flag,” “Bar at the End of the World”), you wonder why Murphy decided to put out an album for himself rather than just continuing to crank out hits for other artists?
According to Murphy, it was Kenny Chesney that convinced him to step out on his own, “I told him I wanted to make a record with him,” Chesney, 50, tells PEOPLE. “I just kept thinking, ‘It’s a shame people can’t hear this kind of music, hear what I’m hearing.’”
Murphy says he was reluctant of the work that would have to go into cutting a whole album, but when Chesney said he along with award-winning producer Buddy Cannon, wanted to co-produce the album, Murphy couldn’t refuse.
Now Murphy is on tour and says he gets “goosebumps” hearing 60,000 people singing his song. Murphy’s next single is “I Won’t Be Sorry”.
