If you mention the name Morgan Wallen just about anywhere, people know his name. But, one name you may not be familiar with is Ben Burgess. Today, Ben Burgess, a co-writer on Wallen’s smash hit “Whiskey Glasses” released his original demo version of the song.
Ben Burgess, previously signed to Big Loud, co-wrote Wallen’s hit, “Whiskey Glasses” alongside Kevin Kadish to be included on Wallen’s first album If I Know Me. The song claimed the No.1 spot in June 2019 and since then, has been certified 9X Platinum by the RIAA.
With “Whiskey Glasses” selling over 9,000,000 units since its release, it’s on the brink of obtaining diamond certification sometime this year. This would make it the 9th Country Song ever to receive Diamond Certification and sell over 10 Million units.
In case you didn’t know, a demo version of a song is basically a rough draft. This is the version that the songwriter's rough cut to present to the artist so they have a general idea of what the song should sound like. These would be songs that are professionally put together, but not “radio-ready”.
"Whiskey Glasses" Original Demo By Ben Burgess & Kevin Kadish
There's no doubt the song has its similarities to Wallen's version. Burgess adds his own style and twang to the song, but Morgan Wallen still makes it his own.
Ben Burgess has undoubtedly carved his name in the music industry writing songs for the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Dierks Bentley, Morgan Wallen, and more. So, here's Burgess's original demo of "Whiskey Glasses":
Back in 2022, Ben Burgess released his debut album Tears The Size of Texas while on Big Loud. If you haven't given the album a listen, check it out here. He also re-released his version of "Heartbreak" on the album which was previously released on Diplo's album two years before.
Since late 2023, Ben Burgess has released another album independently with a stripped-down sound. He's also dropped a few singles within the Hip-Hop/Rap space.
Morgan Wallen’s Expected Set List at Raymond James Stadium
Morgan Wallen is going to be at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa for two shows. He will be there on Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12. Morgan has been performing at stadiums around the country for a few months now so we know some of the songs he will be playing. If you’re going to see Morgan Wallen at Raymond James Stadium you may want to know if your favorite song is going to get played.
I’ve been looking at the previous stadium shows that he has done. Recently, he has played at the Broncos football stadium in Denver. Before that, he was at the Vikings football stadium in Minneapolis for two nights. Back in May, he performed at MetLife Stadium, home of the Giants and the Jets. He’s also performed in Indianapolis, Nashville, Philadelphia, and Oxford, Mississippi.
Joining Morgan Wallen on stage at Raymond James Stadium will be Jelly Roll and Nate Smith. Both of those guys have songs of their own you will be singing along to.
The Stage For Morgan Wallen At Raymond James Stadium
There are two stages that Morgan uses. There is a stage which is the main stage and there will be a secondary stage where he plays three songs in the middle of his concert. He will be doing a Jason Isbell cover, a new song called “Lies Lies Lies”, and then “Sand In My Boots”. After that, he returns to the main stage.
Morgan kicks off his show on his stadium tour with “Ain’t That Some” followed by “I Wrote The Book”. Yes, he will be doing “I Had Some Help”, which is a Post Malone song but since he is featured on it he will be performing it.
He does do an encore where he will be performing three songs. Those three songs are “Thinkin’ Bout Me”, “Last Night” and he ends the show with “The Way I Talk.”
You Proof
This will be the fifth song that Morgan performs. This was the first single released from his One Night A Time album.
I Had Some Help
This is a Post Malone song, but Morgan sings on it and helped write the song. It is the longest running #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for 2024 so far.
Sand In My Boots
This song is from Dangerous: The Double Album. It was his fifth #1.
Up Down
Morgan teams up with Florida Georgia Line for this song. This is also Morgan first #1 song on country radio.
Whiskey Glasses
This was on his 2016 EP, The Way I Talk and became his second #1.
Thinkin' Bout Me
The first song he will play during the Encore. It went #1 in 2023.
Last Night
One of the biggest songs of 2023. This song reached #1 on the Billboard Top 100, which was the first time Morgan has made it there. The last time a solo male artist did that was in 1981. Eddie Rabbitt's song "I Love A Rainy Night" was the song that did that.
