Facebook’s Entire Team Is Going Through A Shakeup
According to Recode, Facebook is implementing a major product reorganization.
Recode shares that the company has not shaken up their executives like this in it’s 15-year reign on Social Media. The apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Facebook’s original app will now have different leaders, and it’s meant to improve user privacy, as well as executive communication.
This is, of course, a direct result of the hearing that Mark Zuckerberg had with the Senate, and the Cambridge Analytica Scandal.
Recode says “CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reorganized the social giant’s product and engineering organizations into three main divisions, including a new “Family of apps” group run by Chief Product Officer Chris Cox, the executive previously in charge of the core Facebook app. Cox will now oversee Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, according to multiple sources, four social apps with a combined reach of more than five billion monthly users.”
The biggest move? Instagram and Facebook are flipping product executives. Adam Mosseri and Kevin Weil are swapping brands, sending Adam to Instagram, while Kevin is getting laid down to the Blockchain team for Facebook. Blockchain technology is not something that typical Facebook users know much about, but in Messenger, you are able to send money back and forth using your PayPal account, and Blockchain is looking into all the technology with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, according to Recode.
