Meet Shelly Brown, Zac Brown’s “Better Half”
We hear and see a lot about our favorite country stars, but a new digital series by Opry Entertainment spotlights the spouses of some of those stars. A recent episode features Shelly Brown, wife of Zac Brown, mother to the couple’s five children and jewelry designer.
Her interest in design started young, long before she met her famous hubby. “When I was a kid I always made jewelry and I learned to sew really young,” Shelly says in a recent episode of Better Halves. “I went to school for design. Design has just always been something that really has kind of come naturally to me and something that I love to do and am really passionate about. So it’s been really fun to be able to bring that to the table now just the way that I did back then.”

Shelly believes there’s a little bit of her own type of creativity in everyone. “It’s really important to me to do things myself,” she continues. “I like to do things with my hands. I think that’s something that’s in all of our DNA.”
Kacey Musgraves and Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman are fans of Shelly’s designs, and some of her work is on display as part of a Zac Brown Band exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. “I think any time that you get to see such a huge part of your life laid out in a way like that, it brought tears to my eyes.” Learn more about that exhibit here.
