Feeling Stifled, Chase Rice Signs With New Record Label
Looking for creative freedom, Chase Rice has signed with a new record label.
The Florida native with its like “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and “Ready Set Roll” has signed with Broken Bow, label home to Jason Aldean and Dustin Lynch, among others. “I can’t tell you how excited I am to join the BBR family,” he says in a statement serviced by the label. “I knew from the moment we began talking that the people here understand where I’m coming from, and I can’t wait to share all the new songs we’re about to make together. In fact, we’re so excited, we promise we’ll have new music for you within a month.”

According to a feature in Rolling Stone Country, the departure from his last label came after disagreements over the direction he wanted to take with his music. “I’m still blessed, but when you know what you can do and you’re not able to do it, it feels like a slap in the face,” Chase tells the publication. “I felt like people were holding me back from the music I could create. That’s no way to live, and it’s weighed me down for a long time.”

Chase apparently wanted to back away from the bro-country party tunes he’s been known for and take a more mature direction with his sound, though his label wasn’t keen on the idea. His decision to leave came after a golf outing with an unnamed record executive who wasn’t receptive to his ideas. “He wouldn’t look at me,” Chase tells Rolling Stone, noting that he called his management team as soon as the game was finished. “I said, ‘Get me out of this deal. I either want to not do music again or get out of this deal.’ I don’t think it was 10 days later I was out.”
In any event, Broken Bow is glad to have him. “Chase has a track record of connecting with fans whether it is socials, concert tickets, singles or album sales,” Broken Bow Music Group EVP Jon Loba says in a press release. “He knows himself and his audience and has formed a rabid following. We are so excited to have him join our family and can’t wait for everyone to hear some incredible new music.”
