Where To Find Sandbags In Polk County Ahead Of Tropical Storm Nicole She’s on her way, bringing, wind, and lots of rain. Hurricane center says Nicole became a tropical storm at 10 AM Tuesday. My “weather girlfriend” Leigh Spann says “Tropical Storm Watches now extend across the entire Tampa Bay area,” and “Tropical storm force winds [are] expected within 48 hours as Nicole heads northwest through the state Thursday.” Heads Up People! The following cities will be distributing sandbags ahead of the storm in Polk county: Wednesday, Nov. 9 only. Locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
