Clearwater’s brand new, much-anticipated new concert venue is set to roll out a whole summer full of music and entertainment. The Sound at Coachman Park and the city of Clearwater is holding a weeklong series of events for the family as well as concerts June 28-July 4 to celebrate the grand opening.

As one of the crown jewels of Clearwater’s $84 million waterfront improvement initiative. With 4,000 covered seats, along with another 5,000 spots to sit on the lawn, “The Sound” becomes the largest  concert venue in all of Pinellas County. Ruth Eckerd Hall has an arrangement with the city of Clearwater to book the events and manage all aspects of the venue. Coachman Park was already a destination spot for locals and tourists alike who appreciate wide-open spaces. Now it will be better-than-ever with a magnificent new music venue.

Here’s who’s kicking off the opening week of The Sound:

Colbie Callat and Gavin DeGraw on June 30. Dave Koz Summer Horns Tour on July 1, and the legendary Peter Frampton on July 2.  Check ticket availability here.  There will also be a bunch of free community concerts, along with games and activities in the park especially for the kiddies. Opening week will be topped off on July 4th with what promises to be the largest fireworks display in the history of the city of Clearwater, accompanied by the Florida Orchestra. The fireworks extravaganza will mark the return of the “Clearwater Celebrates America” Independence Day fireworks over Clearwater Harbor.  Check out the packed schedule of events here.

Plenty of concerts and events will hit “The Sound” over the summer, and beyond.  The only question is where to eat before you go? Or maybe you would prefer to grab a bite after the show.  Either way,  I’ve got some suggestions for you.
