Listen: Lainey Wilson’s Cool Country Banger
Lainey Wilson’s new song “Country’s Cool Again” is out today (2/16), and as we expected, it’s as country as can be.
The first verse of the song’s lyrics is: “I was born in boots on humble ground / These kinda roots, yeah, they sure don’t grow out / Yeah, even in a guitar town / My crooked drawl, the way I sung / My mama’s genes sure stuck out like a thumb / In a Metro City crowd.”
Lainey posted that the new song was out on her Instagram today (2/16). She also added a few images of her as a cowgirl, including one where she’s on a horse. She wrote, “Y’all hop in the back, how bout that, country’s cool again (cowboy face emoji) OUT NOW.”
Fans were thrilled the new song was out, and many commented on the post, including one who wrote, “Country’s cool, but you’re the coolest.” Another fan said, “Thanks for the birthday present song, especially since I didn’t grow up country, but it’s in my soul and now my reality.” One more fan wrote in all caps, “CRANKING THIS.”

Wilson didn’t miss the opportunity to post a message on her Instagram earlier this week to one of her lifetime Valentines: country music.
In a video clip, Lainey narrates photos and videos of herself through her childhood on horses and a four-wheeler. She said, “My love letter to country music. Country music isn’t just a genre to those of us that love it; it’s a lifestyle. It’s the way we were raised and the way that we talk. It’s the way we eat, breathe, sleep, and survive. It is putting in the hard work to break a wild horse or pulling a tractor out of the mud. And the endurance to get up and do it all again. Growing up knowing all the words to Willie, Waylon, Hank, and Dolly. And family trips to Gatlinburg and Dollywood, and the Grand Ole Opry.”
She concluded, “Seeing the world be remined of and start to love the lifestyle that we’ve always known has put a big ole smile on my face. That’s why I’m so proud to say, ‘Country’s cool again.'”
