Tampa: Distributing 30K Backpacks To Kids At Raymond James Stadium

Raymond James Stadium is a few days away from kickoff. Buccaneers players will be reporting to camp next week (July 24 rookies / July 25 veterans) at AdventHealth Training Center. However, the home of the Bucs will open its doors to The Bullard Family Foundation, which will give out 30K backpacks to Tampa area kids.

This event, entitled the “Back To School Bash,” is in preparation for back to school and will take place on July 29. This is the 6th annual event that The Bullard Family Foundation will be throwing.

“During the fun-filled day, guests will be able to snag a free backpack filled with school supplies and take advantage of free medical, dental and vision services, as well as complimentary haircuts, food, and entertainment,” ThatsSoTampa explains.

Thaddeus Bullard

The Bullard Family Foundation has close ties with the Tampa Bay Bucs. In addition to being a partner in the back-to-school bash, the Bucs organization and Thaddeus Bullard have worked closely together on numerous initiatives through his foundation. Bullard was a University of Florida standout football player who played professionally in the arena league. He is also a Tampa resident.

There’s a good chance you know Bullard from somewhere else, however. If the name Titus O’Neil rings a bell, that’s because that is Thaddeus Bullard’s WWE persona. Upon retiring from football, Bullard signed with the WWE in 2009 and has been billed as Titus O’Neil. In fact, the WWE recognized his incredible charity work upon his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, where he received the Warrior Award for his foundation efforts.

“Through BFF, we transform communities by creating impactful moments for children and families everywhere,” Bullard states through his foundation.

The Back To School Bash will be free for all Hillsborough K-12 students. The 30K backpacks distributed to Tampa area kids will be filled with school supplies. To register for the event at Raymond James Stadium, visit BullardFamilyFoundation.org.

The event on July 29th will start at 9:01 am and run until 1:01 pm. The “:01” signifies the community coming together as one.

The 2023 Major League Baseball season is officially one week away. Next Thursday, the Tampa Bay Rays will host the Detroit Tigers at Tropicana Field. Of course, not all Major League Baseball players from Tampa Bay play for the Rays. According to baseball almanac, there sixteen currently active MLB players from Tampa Bay.

Manager Kevin Cash starts his 9th season as the manager of the Rays. Cash is a hometown guy. Hailing from Tampa Bay, Cash was part of a local team that made it to the 1989 Little League World Series. He then went north to play for Florida State University better getting into the Toronto Blue Jays system as a catcher. Cash’s first stint back in Tampa came when he was traded to the Rays in 2005. His second round with his hometown club came when he was hired to be the manager in December of 2014. At the time, Cash was the youngest manager in MLB, solidifying his presence in the Tampa baseball once again.

In fact, the region has a deep history with breeding major league ballplayers. The roster of MLB players from Tampa is quite impressive.
