Thomas Rhett And Wife Discuss Postpartum Depression
Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins recently opened up about Lauren’s postpartum depression experience and how they overcame it on the Live In Love With Lauren Akins podcast. On a recent episode, the couple discussed the experience that happened after their youngest daughter Lillie was born in November of 2021. Lille has three older sisters.
Lauren said on the podcast of her bout with postpartum, “After Ada James, our marriage had a falling apart. After Lennon, the world had a falling apart. After Lillie, I had a falling apart.” Thomas added, “You don’t want it to sound like you’re gossiping behind your wife’s back. It’s not like you wanna call a buddy and be like, ‘Hey, my wife’s acting super strange.'” He continued, “It’s not something you think you’re gonna experience eight, nine years into marriage. You kinda go, ‘Are we falling apart?'”
Lauren added, “I do feel like counseling was one way that helped confirm it. Because in the back of my mind, I was like, ‘This is not normal.’ I have experienced birthing children before, and I’ve not felt this. As I explained what I was feeling with other friends, a couple of friends were like, ‘I think you might be depressed.'”

Rhett recently celebrated his seven most recent number-one songs at a party in Nashville. The next day, he announced the release of a retrospective vinyl collection celebrating his 20 No. One hits over ten years. Titled 20 Number Ones, the new vinyl will be out on September 29.
Thomas said at the party, “To have 20 No. Ones is beyond wild – honestly, more than I ever could have imagined. I’m grateful to have hit this milestone, but mostly it’s just exciting to look back at this journey so far and see how these songs represent the different chapters of my life — and hopefully, the Home Team (his fan club) feels the same way.”
He added, “I want to say thank you to everyone for letting me be a part of the special moments in life – it’s hard to put into words what these past 10 years mean to me. Can’t wait for another great 10!”
