NBA Postpones All Games Tonight, Protesting Jacob Blake Shooting
After the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court for their game against the Orlando Magic today, other NBA teams have followed suit. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, all of tonight’s games have been postponed. “All games are postponed, and Game 5 of each series will be rescheduled, NBA says,” he tweeted.
He added, “The NBA, owners and front offices didn’t see this wave of player boycotts coming today. Hours ago, they all expected to be playing these games tonight. This is a pivot point for the NBA and professional sports in North America.”
The NBA tweeted about it soon after Wojnarowski’s tweets, saying, “The NBA and the NBPA today announced that in light of the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to not take the floor today for Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, today’s three games – MIL-ORL, HOU-OKC and LAL-POR have been postponed. Game 5 of each series will be rescheduled.”
The Washington Post reported that Bucks guard George Hill said Monday that NBA players “shouldn’t have even came to this damn place, to be honest,” referencing the NBA “bubble” in Florida, because playing “took all the focal points off what the issues are.”
