FDA Warns About Danger Of Certain Dog Food Diets
You might be eating paleo, but your dog probably shouldn’t be.
The Food and Drug Administration is warning owners about the dangers of a grain-free dog food diet.
The FDA says foods that contain potatoes, peas, or lentils and/or other legumes as the main ingredients could lead to heart problems for your dog. The federal agency doesn’t name any specific brands but warns that dogs fed “grain-free” food were at risk of an enlarged heart.
The condition, which is more common in larger breed dogs, has been showing up in dogs that aren’t typically affected by it.
