Top 15 surf spots in Florida and beyond. Florida is home to some of the best surf spots in the Southeastern United States. From Cocoa Beach to St. Augustine and yes, even our own Sunset and Indian Rocks Beach, (yes where above picture was taken). There are plenty of options for surfers of all skill levels. Our beaches offer some of the most picturesque landscapes, with pristine waters and colorful coastal towns that make the perfect backdrop for a day of fun for Surfers and Paddle Surfers alike. I’ve surfed up and down the East Coast a little, so Included some of my favs there too.
Only a 3 hour drive, one of the most popular surf spots in Florida is Cocoa Beach, known as the “Surf Capital of the East Coast.” I was going over there several times a year, but over the last 2 winters, we’ve actually had some great waves on this coast. Cocoa beach has a rich history in the sport, with many famous surfers hailing from the area, including Kelly Slater. St. Augustine is another great option, featuring consistent waves year-round and plenty of surf shops and schools. And for those looking for a more laid-back vibe, Indian Rocks Beach offers a quieter, more secluded surf experience. Watch out for Man O War Jellies, and Sharks ; ) With plenty of options to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect spot to hang ten and enjoy the sun and surf. SouthernLiving
