July is National Ice Cream month and typically, Vanilla is the most popular flavor followed by Chocolate, but there are some interesting flavors that are out there.
Firstly, Ice cream can be traced back as far as 3,000 BC to ancient China where crushed ice was flavored with fruit juices. Second, It is said that explorer Marco Polo discovered their method and introduced the treat to Italy. It was only in the 1700s when ice cream was introduced to America. This delicacy was enjoyed by the rich.
Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry are the most favorite flavors. But now you can find so many different flavors at the grocery store. But we recently found some very strange and bizarre flavors that actually make us want to turn our heads. The list came from an article on Cafemom, If you’re feeling adventurous while traveling, look for these flavors.
1. Squid ink - Found in Korea
Can you imagine eating ice cream called Squid Ink? Wonder if it's any good? This blogger said it tastes like salted caramel and wasn't that bad. It's found in Korea.
2. Fish And Chips - from Australia
Ok, really? Fish flavored gelato. That doesn't even sound normal. They have it in Australia. The blogger said the gelato tastes nothing like fish and chips... More like milk gelato with batter crumbs.
3. Corn On The Cob - from
I love corn on the cob, butter and salt, but how do you think its tastes as ice cream? This video makes it look pretty good especially, with all the extra stuff around it. I might try this one.
4. Pizza - from Philadelphia
We all love pizza. But would you like it on your ice cream? They do in Philly. Infuse fresh cream with tomato paste, basil, garlic, and oregano leaves. Not sure that sounds appetizing.
5. Blue Cheese - New York
You like it on a salad, why not a cone?
6. Olive Oil - Italy
Olives are fruits, so you're technically eating healthy. In Italy they love this flavor. Wonder if it pairs nicely with wine?
7. Haggis - from the U.K.
If you don't know what Haggis is, then you would probably like it. Haggis is chopped up sheep innards. They serve it up in the U.K. Wonder how many people ate this without googling Haggis.
8. Crocodile egg - from the Philippines
This is made with crocodile eggs and meat as part of its ingredients. One review said it was good but a little chewy which was the crocodile meat.
9. Lobster roll - from Cape Cod
Something you could enjoy after eating your lobster roll for lunch.
