Florida Gas Prices Snub Our Gas Tax Break In Tampa Bay. What happened to our Gas Tax Break? Florida’s average gas price climbed up 7 cents from last week. We were at $3.40 per gallon average on Sunday. That’s up 23 cents from just 2 weeks ago. That should put us close to $6 bucks a gallon in time for Christmas? Wait, that’s not funny. AAA says it’s all because of the OPEC decision to cut production by 2 million barrels a day. Ouch! As that crude oil goes, so go we. Or, our cost to fill up. AAA’s Mark Jenkins says, “Drivers faced another round of rising gas prices last week, as retail prices at the pump continued to adjust to the big jump in oil prices which occurred more than a week ago.” Source News Channel 8
