Tampa Bay’s Hometown Morning Krewe

Here is a list of 6 CD’s that are worth a lot of money today. I never thought that there are CD’s that could be worth anything? I’ve had hundreds of CD‘s over the years and have either tossed them or sold them at a garage sale for 25 cents each. In this list, there are big artists like Taylor Swift, Rolling Stones and Nirvana. Even an Eninem CD is worth a ton of money.

I don’t even have a CD player in my car anymore. I don’t own a CD player at the house and I don’t have one in my computer anymore. There is no reason that I should be holding onto old CD’s, but I know I still have a bunch left because I just was too afraid to throw them out incase I needed them. Years ago I started copying them onto my mac computer so that I could play them in my ipod. Remember those? Man, that was a lot of work. I must have thousands and thousands of songs loaded into my computer. Last time I checked it was over 14,000 songs. Remember, I work in radio, so I got a lot of those through my job.

It was so hard to get that dang plastic covering off the CD’s. It would take so long to take all the plastic off, then you’d have to peel away the other plastic to get it open. I would be so excited when my shipment of 10 CD’s from Columbia House came in. 10 CD’s for a penny, but then I couldn’t play it right away because I was trying to get to it.

Man, I hope I didn’t have any of the following CD’s in my collection, because there are CD’s that are worth a lot of money today. Go dig through your old collection and see if you have any of these titles and then head over to Ebay and put them up. That’s the first thing that I would do. Why not make the money? When is the last time you played music off of a CD anyway?

  • 7. Taylor Swift: Teardrops On My Guitar (Promo Copy)

The reason why this CD is worth money, is because it was a promotional copy. A promo copy of the album recently sold for over $1,200 on eBay. Holy cow. That’s just enough to buy one ticket to one of her shows in the nosebleed level.

  • 6. Bob Dylan: 50th Anniversary Collection

The reason this is rare, is because only 100 copies were made, but if you were a big Dylan fan, it’s one you may have. If you managed to get one, and it survived your closet cleanings, it can be worth over $2,500.

  • 5. Rolling Stones: Stell Wheels Japan Tour 1990

If you’re a Stones fan and ended up with a copy of their promotional 1990 Steel Wheels Japan Tour CD, you are in luck, because it’s worth some money.  About $2,500.  Wow.

  • 4. Eminem: Slim Shady EP

The reason why this one is worth so much is because it’s very rare.  This is the debut of his Slim Shady alter-ego.  It’s worth almost $12,000.  I bet you wished you would have kept that one too!

  • 3. Nirvana: Pennyroyal Tea

This is interesting because the single version of Pennyroyal Tea was released just before Kurt Kobin passed away.  So it didn’t stay on shelves long.  They actually recalled the album so there was a brief moment that it was available.  If you were lucky and grabbed a copy, you’re in luck, it’s worth about $2,000 today.

  • 2. Coldplay: The Safety EP

The Safety EP, Coldplay’s first ever public album, was limited to 500 copies, and if you happened to own one, you’d be sitting on about $1,000.
