Episode 39 – Bucs Game

SEGMENT 1 — LAUNA’S THANKSGIVING & WEEKEND

A. Thanksgiving Day

·        Spent Thanksgiving at Paul’s brother Neil’s house in Odessa.

·        First Thanksgiving as a Stringfield.

·        25 people, lots of food.

·        Realization: No one said the blessing.

B. Thursday Night

·        Went out to a friend’s house to hang out and party.

C. Black Friday

·        Stayed home, did online shopping.

·        Spent ~$700 but is almost done with holiday & birthday shopping.

·        Has two boys’ birthdays in December.

D. Sunday — Buccaneers Game

·        Birthday outing for both boys, especially Gavin (turning 11, wearing a cast).

·        Challenge: finding a birthday activity he could do → landed on the idea of going to a Bucs game.

·        Bought last-minute tickets Friday night → Section 138, $165 each (great deal vs usual $400–500).

·        Had to buy 5 tickets including teenage daughter.

E. The Clothing Saga

·        Day-after-Black-Friday scramble for Bucs apparel.

·        Multiple stores visited: Target, Bealls, Kohl’s, Sam’s, etc.

·        Only found most sizes; one shirt bought at stadium gift shop for $110.

F. The Game Experience

·        Boys’ first Bucs game—huge excitement.

·        Highlights: pirate ship, cannons, pregame videos, giant flag, Jumbotron moments, t-shirt cannons.

·        Weather: Extremely hot — sitting in full sun.

G. The Cost Breakdown

·        Drinks: Two doubles = $65.

·        Kids’ snacks/waters/foam fingers.

·        Tickets + apparel + food ≈ $1,400 total.

·        Justifying cost: Equivalent to what they’d spend on two kids’ birthday parties combined.

H. NFL Sideline Shade Observation

·        DIY-looking PVC pipe shade rig over players → humorous contrast to NFL’s wealth.

·        Competitive advantage discussion — home team keeps visitors in the sun.

SEGMENT 2 — KEVIN AND J.R.’S THANKSGIVING

A. Kevin Hosting Thanksgiving

·        Turkey turned out great.

·        No major drama; smooth holiday.

B. J.R. Wednesday Lightning Game

·        Went to a Lightning game the night before Thanksgiving.

·        Zero dollars spent thanks to a friend with suite tickets.

·        Enjoyed beer, Wagyu cheeseburgers, free drinks.

·        Paid $20 for parking only.

C. J.R. Thanksgiving Day

·        Spent the holiday at Kristin’s parents’ house.

·        Large spread; lots of kids with electric bikes, toy vehicles.

·        Played games, good family time.

SEGMENT 3 — FEATURE EVENT: ON BIKES

A. Introduction to the Event

·        Happens Saturday, December 6 in downtown Tampa.

·        Hosts transition to interview with Marissa Schwartz, CEO of On Bikes.

INTERVIEW WITH MARISSA SCHWARTZ — CEO OF ON BIKES

A. Organization Overview

·        On Bikes provides bicycles to foster kids and youth in need.

·        Main fundraiser = December 6 holiday-themed ride + festival.

B. Event Day Breakdown

·        Early arrival encouraged.

·        Pre-ride bike decorating station (Ribeca Salon).

·        Theme: Holiday pajamas or festive wear.

·        Ride starts at 9:00 AM on Bayshore Blvd.

·        Afterparty at Cacciatore Park: brunch, mimosas, VIP area, kids’ zone, music.

C. Tickets

·        Both GA and VIP available at onbikes.org.

·        VIP perks: Exclusive DJ Fresh set, dedicated lounge area.

D. Bike Rentals & Valet

·        Attendees can pre-order rented bikes (limited supply).

·        Bike valet available — like car valet for bikes.

E. December 9 — Santa’s Bike Shop (Volunteer Build Day)

·        At Benchmark International.

·        1,000 volunteers assemble 1,000 bikes.

·        Two shifts: 12–3 PM and 4–7 PM.

·        Volunteer link released online (first come, first served).

·        Sponsorship opportunities for assembly tables.
