When thinking about a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience, one's home state doesn't usually come to mind, but perhaps it should. Especially for those who have been residents of their home state for decades, sometimes, it just doesn't seem too exciting to explore the area that you already know so well. But, each state has some wonderous things to do, and chances are, even longtime residents will find something adventures to explore in their own state if they look hard enough. In that spirit, one travel idea in this state is being highlighted as quite an adventure and something that's worth trying.

A Special Experience Right in the State

According to Radical Storage, plenty of Americans decide to "staycation" instead of go on big trips in 2023. According to their research, "One survey found that 67% of Americans are either planning to take a staycation or have already taken one." They add that, "44.4% of people go on domestic staycations in the U.S. more often than international vacations, with 87.7% of this group having been on a staycation this year." So, that's a lot of people deciding not to go far for a trip.

Reader's Digest has a new feature out offering up a tally of the most memorable places and once-in-a-lifetime experiences in every state, including this one. They note that "every single state in the country has a bucket list attraction, experience or incredible sight worth seeing" and that "the best places to visit in the USA could be home to the most popular tourist attractions or even the best pumpkin patches, but what they usually have in common is that they make for the best weekend getaways." From sports spots to music cities, there's something for everyone across the country.

For Florida, they suggest to experience the Everglades, especially if you've already been to Walt Disney World and are looking for a new adventure. "This unique ecosystem, known for its wildlife, is home to crocodiles, panthers and a host of birds," Reader's Digest notes. "Airboat tour guides will tell you everything you need to know while you visit this natural wonderland safely."
