Did A Jukebox Selection Lead To The Death Of A Florida Man?
Did a jukebox selection lead to the death of a Florida man? That’s what reports are saying and it has many people thinking twice about what song they’ll play at restaurants.
When you go out with friends, it can be fun to pick some songs on the jukebox. Maybe some of them are popular songs everyone knows and likes, some might be inside jokes with you and your friends, and, apparently, some might lead to you being murdered! What kind of song would you have to play for it to lead to that? I can’t even imagine.
Jukebox Selection Leads To Murder Of Florida Man
I guess you have to be careful what songs you pick when you’re out in public. This incident happened at Antojitos Mexicanos in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It happened around 1:30 am on Monday morning, according to reports. In the end, 54-year-old Socorro Camacho was shot dead after a gun battle started over a song played on the restaurant’s jukebox, per The New York Post.
Mauro Bonilla spoke to several witnesses and told The New York Post, “I heard that there was two guys [and] they got into an argument because one of them played a song on the [jukebox] and the other guy kind of was pissed off.” She went on to explain that the man who was insulted pulled out his weapon and started firing. A gun battle ensued, and the shooter ended up running from the scene. As of the latest reports that man still hasn’t been found and remains at large and has not been arrested. The victim’s family is hoping they can find the suspect as soon as possible.
There’s no word on what the song was, but CBS News reports that when the song was played another customer came up and said, “You’re not a real Mexican if you play that music.” Clearly, he had a real problem with the song being played. It sounds as if the shooter was the one who was offended and the victim was the person who didn’t want to hear the music.
Mauro tells CBS News, “It’s just sad, you know, because this a good neighborhood and it never happens. I’m very shocked, very shocked that someone got shot there and killed. It’s sad.” You have to be careful with what songs you play on the jukebox at restaurants! It’s not your private playlist. You have to think about the majority of people and how they’ll feel about your selection before purchasing the song to be played.
