USA Today 10Best chose a panel of experts to develop a list of the top grocery stores. They took that list and let their readers vote on their favorites based on value, selection, and great service.
Publix was voted as the seventh-best grocery store in the United States. Here is what the report says about Publix. “Publix has grown from a single store in 1930 to the largest employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States. Known for its clean, bright stores and friendly staff, in addition to a wide range of high-quality products catering to different tastes and dietary needs, Publix stands out as a supermarket that prioritizes customer satisfaction."

How Many Publix Stores Are There?
Publix is an employee supermarket chain that was founded right here in Florida. It was founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins in Winter Haven, but now their corporate office calls Lakeland home. On Publix’s website, they say that they are one of the country’s 10 largest volume supermarket chains and employ over 255,000 people. As of September 2024, there are 1,378 store locations across the southeast United States. 870 of those stores are right here in Florida. Additionally, they have 10 distribution centers, including one in Georgia, North Carolina, and Alabama. They also have 10 manufacturing facilities.
There have stores in 8 states. There is only one store in the state of Kentucky. Additionally, there are only 20 stores in Virginia. They keep expanding into more states, but how many more states will they open stores in?
