Tampa Bay Tattoo Shops Offering Friday the 13th Specials
Friday the 13th is right around the corner and most people will celebrate in different ways. In many cultures, it’s seen as a day of bad luck. Some people embrace the day with fun-themed parties, events, or promotions. In the tattoo world, it’s become an anticipated holiday where thousands of people will get inked.
How did getting a tattoo become a Friday the 13th tradition? According to slate.com, it all started on Friday, June 13 2008 at a small Texas tattoo shop that set out a record to tattoo the number 13 on as many people as possible in 24 hours. They managed to tattoo a total of 415 people.
Some people are against big flash sheet or promotional days at tattoo shops because some artists are known to get through as many clients as quickly as possible, which also means the line work or quality of the tattoo may not always be the best as when you have an artist take their time in a standard appointment. To avoid overcrowding shops and overworking their artists, many tattoo shops have developed a sign-up sheet or appointment-based system for Friday the 13th tattoo specials. Some shops have first-come-first-served specials, so it’s best to do your research before picking a random shop on Friday the 13th.

I’ve gotten a few Friday the 13th tattoos over the years and don’t regret a single one. I find the best case is to find a shop that will let you bring in your own design instead of choosing from random designs that you might not love in a few years.

This event is first come first serve but they will have a waitlist available for Saturday and Sunday at locked-in event rates for anyone unable to get tattooed on Friday or those who don’t want to wait in line. They are starting at 11am on Friday and will be tattooing until the artists tap out. All design prices will be posted in person and will be starting at $100.
