Are The Tampa Bay Lightning For Sale
So are the Tampa Bay Lightning for sale? So there was a story that broke that said that the Tampa Bay Lightning had begun a multi-stage sale process. Now while there is no deal done yet there is no need to worry if you’re a Bolts fan. The reason for that is that even though there would be a person who purchases the team, there will be no immediate change of ownership control. Additionally, there will be no change in the day-to-day operations of the team. The current owner is Jeff Vinik. Even if this deal goes through, he will continue to have full operational control of the Tampa Bay Lightning for the next few years. He will also have an ownership stake if the deal does go through.
Tampa Bay Lightning For Sale For How Much?
The Tampa Bay Lightning have valued the team at around $2 billion. Jeff Vinik bought the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010 for around $170 million. If the sale of the Tampa Bay Lightning does go through, it will be the largest sale of a team in NHL history. The biggest sale right now is the Ottawa Senators’ $950 million sale.
This comes as a surprise as Jeff Vinik has done so well for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the whole Tampa Bay area. I would be sad that he would not be the owner of the Lightning anymore. So the person who buys them has big shoes to fill. I hope that the Bolts don’t go back to when they were owned by the guy who ran the Saw movie franchise. Luckily, Mr. Vinik bought the team just a few years after that happened. Although under the Saw ownership, they did select Steven Stamkos as the #1 overall pick in 2008.
