Florida Man Games Are Back In 2025

The Florida Man Games are back in 2025. The notorious Florida Man stories always seems to be making headlines. We are known for the crazy stories in this state. These kinds of headlines are what sparked Pete Melfi, who created the Florida Man Games. Following the success of the first Olympic-style games, Melfi and his team plan to bring back the games at a new venue on March 1, 2025.

The first Florida Man Games featured events like a pork butt eating contest, a pool noodle mud duel, a Sumo wrestling match (in which competitors had to spill their opponent's beer), and the very popular Evading Arrest Obstacle Course, where competitors had to run from actual cops.

More then 5,000 people came out to watch the first ever Florida Man Games, so this year, they are making it even bigger. The event will now move out to the St. Johns County Fairgrounds, where there will be more space, a covered arena, plus an RV tailgating area.

So bring your finest mullets, your beer-guts, and neck tattoos and get ready for a day of Florida Fun!

Submissions are open through September for teams interested in participating. Competitors must submit a video showing all team members with bonus points awarded for creative, fun and memorable clips. Teams consist of three to five members, all 18 years or older, with at least one member 21 or older. Only Florida residents can apply. Pete Melfi lives in St. Augustine and was the one who created the idea of Florida Man Games.  He said someone gave him the idea to make it into an athletic competition. He turned it into a wild day of mud games and Florida-style obstacle courses. A day to live that Florida Man lifestyle.  Last year, The Florida Man Games featured American Gladiators’ Dan “Nitro” Clark as well as Lori “Ice” Fetrick as judges.

I moved to St. Petersburg in 2019 and I must say, living in the Sunshine State has been fun! I have never gotten in trouble with the law but many of my friends have. The warm weather seems to have an impact on people and it's not always good! Every day there is a "Florida Man/Woman" headline in the news.  Many of the stories are funny but sadly always involve crimes being committed.

Assault is the 3rd most committed crime in Florida.  Even a threat of bodily harm made with an apparent ability to cause the harm is considered assault. The threat however must cause a fear of of injury.

DUI is the 4th most committed crime in Florida. You must have a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher for you to be impaired. The penalties are determined by many factors such as how many times you've gotten a DUI also death/injuries or property damage caused by the driving.

 According to the Florida Department Of Law Enforcement an aggravated assault happens every nine minutes in Florida.
