Families In Need Get Homes Built By Habitat For Humanity And The Bucs
Families in need in the Tampa Bay area got their homes built by Habitat For Humanity and the Tampa Bay Bucs. It was all part of the partnership that was called Holiday home build with the bucks. And some big name Buccaneers were there in attendance. Players, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antoine Winfield Jr., Lavonte David, Carlton Davis and Kyle Trask were in attendance .
The ‘Holiday Home Build with the Bucs’ came from donations from over 90% of the Buccaneers roster. Additionally, the Buccaneers organization matched all those donations. Firstly, only two homes were planned, but because of all the donations from Bucs fans four homes were purchased for families in need. Secondly, some big name Buccaneers fans like Bert Kreischer, and Tom Segura helped fund the home build.
The History Of Habitat For Humanity
The idea of Habitat for Humanity came from a community farm in Georgia and it was founded by a farmer and biblical scholar. The concept of Habitat for Humanity centered on those in need of adequate shelter working side-by-side with volunteers to build those homes. On their website it says, “The houses would be built at no profit. New homeowners’ house payments would be combined with no-interest loans provided by supporters and money earned by fundraising to create “The Fund for Humanity,” which would then be used to build more homes.”
United States President, Jimmy Carter, and his wife Rosalyn, raised awareness for Habitat for Humanity. They are now working in all 50 states and more than 70 countries around the globe. They have hoped more than 46 million people through their home building.
There are 50 local Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Florida with many located right here in the Tampa Bay area. Those include Hillsborough County Habitat for Humanity and Pinellas and West Pasco Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, there is the Sarasota Habitat for Humanity and Lakeland Habitat for Humanity.
