Tampa Pig Jig 2023: Here’s What You Need To Know

Great food, great music, and great weather. We’re talking about Tampa Pig Jig 2023! Grab your koozie and bib and get ready for some great music and BBQ. Here’s what you need to know about this awesome event happening this Saturday, October 21st.

The 2023 Tampa Pig Jig is returning to Julian B. Lane Park in Tampa. General admission sold out a few days ago but VIP Tito’s Stillhouse Tickets are still available.

Who’s on the lineup?

The music is stacked this year! There will be performances from Amanda Shires at 1:30 pm, Shovels & Rope at 3 pm, The Head And The Heart at 4:30 pm, Riley Green at 6:15 pm, and headlining is Brad Paisley. He will hit the stage at 8:15 pm

Where’s the best place to park?

There is no designated parking for the Tampa Pig Jig, and parking is very limited. There will be a designated spot for Uber/rideshare in front of Julian B. Lane Park on North Boulevard. Here are some recommended downtown public parking options:

  • Poe Parking Garage

  • Ft. Brooke Garage

  • Pam Iorio Parking Garage

  • Port Tampa Bay Parking Garage

  • Royal Street Regional Lot

Is Tampa Pig Jig pet-friendly?

Yes! Feel free to bring your pup. Note they are ONLY allowed in the general admission area and must be on a leash at all times.

Can you walk the BBQ pit?

Yes! On top of local vendors at food row, you can walk around and meet the local businesses and teams competing for best BBQ! Keep in mind the Pig Jig is an amateur barbecue competition, and the competitors are not Food Safety Certified.

Is re-entry allowed?

Yes! You will need to get your hand stamped and leave/enter in the front of the park.

What is not allowed in the park?

  • Bags larger than 12x12x12 inches, backpacks, or wrapped packages

  • Cameras with lenses smaller than 4” will be permitted, but camera bags will not be permitted.

  • Selfie Sticks

  • iPads and GoPros

  • Binoculars are permitted, but binocular bags are not permitted.

  • Video or audio recording devices

  • Laser pointers

  • Weapons of any kind

  • Bottles, cans, or containers of any kind

J.R. is the host of Tampa Bay’s Hometown Morning Krewe on 99.5 QYK. He started with QYK in 2020 after moving to Tampa Bay from Texas. In addition to radio J.R. also has appeared on television shows including Nickelodeon’s “Victorious.” J.R. and Tampa Bay’s Hometown Morning Krewe aim to write entertaining content about local events, concerts, and the country music genre as a whole.

Riley Green: Trucks, Quarterbacks, and Golf

Riley Green recently announced he is releasing a new album, Ain’t My Last Rodeo, on October 13 on BMLG Records. The 12-track project is named after a song on the album, “My Last Rodeo,” which the singer wrote following one of the final conversations he had with his late Grandaddy Buford while in the hospital.

Riley attributes his Grandaddy Buford for his musical appreciation, education, and inspiration. He said in a statement, “I was fortunate enough to grow up within about three miles of my grandparents, so they were a huge part of my growing up and who I am—and this album is a lot of who I am. This is really the first time I was able to really take my time, write, and record songs that really felt like a cohesive album.”

He added, “I’m really proud of it and want to thank the fans for all of their encouragement—I hope y’all enjoy it.”

Green recently dropped a new song from the project called “They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That Anymore” that he co-wrote. The chorus of the new song includes the lyrics, “‘Cause they don’t make ’em like that no more / Some things you can’t find in the discount store / There’s just something ’bout bein’ handmade / And bought with cash on a firm handshake / Like old Zebcos and pocket knives / Shotguns, rifles, four-wheel drives / And this worn-out pair of boots that my daddy wore / Well, they don’t make ’em like that no more.”

Riley also has a song with Jelly Roll on the project and a cover of Tim McGraw’s “Damn Country Music.”

The new album includes his current single, “Different ‘Round Here,” which features Luke Combs.

Green posted to Instagram, “My new album “Ain’t My Last Rodeo” will be out October 13. The album preorder and a new song will be out this Friday. #newmusic #aintmylastrodeo #countrymusic #weouthere.”
