Bride Ends Up Marrying Father-in-Law After Groom Flees From Wedding

Most of the time, a wedding is the most important event for a couple to mark in their relationship. One Indonesian woman's ended in disaster when she married her groom's father, who was supposed to be her father-in-law. You read that right. Bride marries father-in-law.

Her fiance seemed to have changed his mind about the wedding before it happened and ran away, so his father had to take his place. This according to TheNews.com

The bride's fiance, Isra, was supposed to marry her that day, but he changed his mind and ran away. Wisto Ahmad, the woman's brother, told an Indonesian newspaper that he and the guy had been together for a long time.

On the disastrous day, guests were already at the wedding when Isra's family said they couldn't find him. Since everyone was already there, they decided to go ahead with the wedding and marry the woman off to Isra's father instead.

A video of the wedding has since been posted on Instagram. It shows the older guy taking the place of his son at the ceremony.

Wisto said that because the man didn't show up for the wedding, his family lost about S$2,227 (25 million rupiah). Wisto said he felt "embarrassed" about what happened. So, he asks the people to get in touch with him if they see Isra.

Officials in the area have said that the marriage was against Islamic law and should not have happened. This seems to be because it doesn't meet some of the requirements for marriage in Islam. Turns out when a Bride marries father-in-law, it's no bueno!
