920 Pound Gator Caught In Orlando Waters
A huge gator was caught near Orlando. It weighed in at 920 pounds and was over 13 feet long. The person who caught the gator is a gator hunter. The hunter and two of his friends were out hunting for the day when they came across the enormous alligator. They actually didn’t catch it when they first saw it. They ended up catching the gator about three hours later. It ended up taking three hours after the gator was originally hooked for them to pull it in. The gator was so big that the boat they put them in ended up having about a foot of water in it.
The hunter told 10 Tampa Bay to be aware when you are in the water, “We grew up here and we’ve always swam in the same lakes and rivers that we hunted,” he said. “But having seen this and being a father of three young kids, it puts a cloud of doubt in your mind if you really want to play in the water.” Check out a pic of the 920 pound gator caught in Orlando waters below.

Where Alligators Are Found
If you are wondering, alligators live in all 67 counties in Florida. There are an estimated 1.25 million alligators in Florida and there is 5 million in the southeast United States. You can find alligators in any body of water including lakes, ponds, rivers, marshes, swamps and man-made canals. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says, “Remember, never feed an alligator and keep your distance if you see one. Swim only in designated swimming areas during daylight hours. And keep pets on a leash and away from the water.”
Alligator attacks are rare, but they do occur. Since 1948, there have been only 442 alligator attacks with only 26 of those being fatal. Crocodiles are also found in Florida although they primarily are found in south and southeast Florida. There are over 2,000 adult crocodiles in the wild.
