One Of The Best “Secret Beaches” Located In Tampa Bay Area
One of the best “secret beaches” is located right here in the Tampa Bay area. So, I guess it isn’t a secret anymore. Family Destinations Guide put out a list of the Top 100 secret beaches in the United States. They name Shell Key Preserve as the #2 secret beach in the United States. Shell Key is located just south of Pass-a-Grille and north of Fort DeSoto in Tierra Verde.
Here is what they say about Shell Key, “The beach is unspoiled and natural, with no development or buildings, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or simply strolling along the shore, taking in the breathtaking scenery and listening to the sound of the waves.”
Of the 10 best “secret beaches” in the United States, 4 of them are in Florida. Shell Key is #2, Lovers Key State Park south of Fort Myers is #6. Also, Dry Tortugas National Park west of Key West is #9 and Boneyard Beach near Jacksonville comes in at #10.
Finally, there is one more Tampa Bay area beach in the Top 100 and that is Caladesi Island. It comes in at #23 on the list.
