Morgan Wallen Fan Sues Singer For ‘Breach of Contract’

April 25th 10:52 AM

Many Morgan Wallen concertgoers in Mississippi on Sunday were angry when Morgan canceled his performance only six minutes before showtime. One concertgoer named Brandi Burcham filed a class action lawsuit “on behalf of herself and all other similarly situated” patrons who attended Wallen’s show at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

According to Page Six, Burcham said in court documents that while the venue promised refunds “at point of purchase,” hers had yet to be “issued” when she filed the complaint. She said, “Even if ticket prices are refunded, no offer has been made to reimburse concertgoers for other out-of-pocket expenses they incurred in connection with the concert cancellation, including transportation, lodging, food, merchandise sales, transaction fees, and other such expenses.”

Burcham is suing for breach of contract and negligence in addition to demanding a trial by jury.

Wallen was just minutes away from taking the stage at his concert at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, on Sunday (4/23) when he canceled the show due to vocal issues. Morgan’s fans were informed of the cancellation via an on-screen message moments before he was scheduled to perform. Several fans went to social media to express their anger for the short notice.

He posted on his Insta stories, “After last night’s show, I started losing my voice, so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor, and working through my vocal exercises, trying to get better. I really thought I’d be able to take the stage, and it kills me to deliver this so close to stage time, but my voice is shot, and I’m unable to sing. I’m so sorry. I promise you guys I tried everything I could.”

Fans showed their anger over the cancelation on Twitter. Below are a handful of reactions from fans.

“My 4 yr old granddaughter was there and cried all the way home.” See that post here. “This Morgan Wallen situation is really just proof that rookies have to pace themselves when they go to Oxford.” See that post here. “This kid ever going to grow up?” See that post here. “Field seats for Morgan Wallen: $800.” See that post here. “Some of us are just built differently.” See that post here. “It was claimed he lost his voice. Whether that was true or not remains to be seen.” See that post here.
