Kenny Chesney brought all his teams together for a week of tweaking video and aligning light cues at the Steel Mill just north of Nashville. For the crew, band, and tour staff, the final rehearsals brought all the teams together for the first time since wrapping Chesney’s record-setting “Here And Now 2022 Tour.”

Kenny said in a statement, “It always feels good when we have our road family back together. A lot happens over the winter, so we’re catching up. But we’re also figuring out how to put all the pieces together, trying to make it something that’s really special. Obviously, last year’s tour rocked harder than anything we’ve done, which is crazy to me, but I wanted to bring that passion and energy to all these special cities where we don’t get to go very often.”

Chesney kicks off the new “I Go Back Tour” On Thursday (3/23) in Charlottesville, Virginia, at John Paul Jones Arena. He noted of the upcoming shows, “There are going to be some real surprises in the setlist. A couple of songs we’ve not played in a long time. The opportunity to sing our Vocal Event’ half of my hometown’ with Kelsea (Ballerini, who is opening the tour) makes me happy.”

Kenny adds of the venues he is playing this time around, “Getting inside those arenas that we never forgot, playing in some of those cities that were just wild when this started, bringing all the energy we had last year, I can’t imagine how alive it’s gonna be, but I fully intend to find out. The thing about No Shoes Nation I know: they bring us every bit of their heart – so we try to give even more than they do, which is saying something.”

Country Music's Misheard Lyrics: What We've Been Singing Incorrectly

  • "Big Star" by Kenny Chesney (2003)

Misheard lyrics: “Like she was God’s little sister.”
Actual lyrics: “Like she was Garth Brooks in a skirt.”

The chorus of the song includes the lyrics, “She was a big star at Banana Joe’s Bar / Where she sang karaoke every night / She said, ‘If you work hard to get where you are / It feels good in the hot spotlight’ / She was a big star.”

  • "Hurricane" by Luke Combs (2016)

    Misheard lyrics: “Rain was dropping.”
    Actual lyrics: “Rain was driving.”

The chorus of “Hurricane”: “The moon went hiding / Stars quit shining / Rain was driving / Thunder ‘n lightning / You wrecked my whole world when you came / And hit me like a hurricane / You hit me like a hurricane.”

  • "9 to 5" by Dolly Parton (1980)

Misheard lyrics: “And you think that I would daunt you.”
Actual lyrics: “And you think about it, don’t you?”

“9 to 5’s” famous chorus, “Working 9 to 5, what a way to make a living / Barely getting by, it’s all taking and no giving / They just use your mind, and they never give you credit / It’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it.”

  • "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks (1990)

Misheard lyrics: “I’m not big on sausage gravy.”
Actual lyrics: “I’m not big on social graces.”

The catchy chorus, “‘Cause I’ve got friends in low places / Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away / And I’ll be OK / Yeah, I’m not big on social graces / Think I’ll slip on down to the oasis / Oh, I’ve got friends in low places.”

  • "You'll Think of Me" by Keith Urban (2002)

Misheard lyrics: “Take your cap and leave my shredder.”
Actual lyrics: “Take your cat and leave my sweater.”

The chorus includes the lyrics, “And take your cat and leave my sweater / ‘Cause we have nothing left to weather / In fact, I’ll feel a whole lot better / But you’ll think of me, you’ll think of me.”
